A documentary is a non-fiction film (or video) that presents real events, people, places, issues, or aspects of reality, rather than invented stories.
It aims to document, inform, educate, persuade, or preserve history — often using actual footage, interviews, photos, and creative storytelling techniques (coined famously as "the creative treatment of actuality" by John Grierson in the 1920s).
