Do you still remember what you learned?
Active Recall
Close your notes to remember what you learned.
Use flashcards, quizzes, or explain the lesson out loud.
As you scroll down, you’ll see a short reviewer about photosynthesis.
This will help you understand the topic first before you try the quiz.
Read it carefully and take your time — you’re building the knowledge you’ll need for the next part.
After the reviewer, you’ll get to test what you remember using active recall.

Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants make their own food using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide. This process happens mainly in the leaves, inside tiny parts called chloroplasts.
Through photosynthesis, plants turn light energy into chemical energy (food), which helps them grow and survive.
It allows plants to make their own food.
The food gives plants energy to grow, repair, and reproduce.
It produces oxygen, which is essential for humans and animals to breathe.
It is the base of the food chain, supporting almost all living things.
Without photosynthesis, life on Earth would not survive.
🌞 Sunlight – provides energy
💧 Water – absorbed by the roots
🌬 Carbon dioxide (CO₂) – enters through the leaves
🍃 Chlorophyll – green pigment in leaves that absorbs light
Sunlight is absorbed by the leaves.
Water is absorbed by the roots.
Carbon dioxide enters the leaves.
Food (glucose) is produced in the leaves.
Oxygen is released into the air.
You’ve just learned about photosynthesis.
But reading alone doesn’t mean you’ll remember it.
This is where active recall comes in.
Active recall means testing your memory instead of rereading notes.
When you try to remember information, your brain works harder — and that helps the lesson stay in your mind longer.
You’ve already read the reviewer above.
Now let’s practice active recall using the quiz below.
Don’t worry about getting everything right.
The goal is to try, check, and improve.
